A Spinal Injection procedure is an injection of a mixture of local anaesthetic and hydrocortisone (steroid) around the areas of inflammation in the spinal canal. This is used when nerves in the lower back are inflamed due to irritation from either spinal stenosis (a degenerative narrowing of the spinal canal) or a disc prolapse. Injections are administered into all pain producing areas such as joints, around nerves and discs, muscles and degenerate areas.

All injections are performed in the operating theatre under sedation administered by a consultant anaesthetist. Every injection is confirmed by XRAY during the procedure.
