Summary
Aims Work-related musculoskeletal problems (MSD) are extremely prevalent and put a big burden on (working) society. Main prevention of work-related MSD focuses usually on bodily danger components (comparable to handbook lifting and awkward postures) however has not been too profitable in decreasing the MSD burden. This may increasingly partly be attributable to inadequate information of etiological mechanisms and/or an absence of adequately possible interventions (concept failure and program failure, respectively), presumably on account of restricted integration of analysis disciplines. A analysis framework may hyperlink analysis disciplines thereby strengthening the event and implementation of preventive interventions. Our goal was to outline and describe such a framework for multi-disciplinary analysis on work-related MSD prevention. Strategies We described a framework for MSD prevention analysis, partly based mostly on frameworks from different analysis fields (ie, sports activities damage prevention and public well being). Outcomes The framework consists of a repeated sequence of six steps comprising the evaluation of (i) incidence and severity of MSD, (ii) danger components for MSD, and (iii) underlying mechanisms; and the (iv) growth, (v) analysis, and (vi) implementation of preventive intervention(s). Conclusions Within the current framework for optimum work-related MSD prevention, analysis disciplines are linked. This framework can thereby assist to enhance theories and strengthen the event and implementation of prevention methods for work-related MSD.
